What Happens if It’s Supposed to Rain on the Day of Your Photoshoot?

Rain, rain, go away—especially when we’ve got family photos to take, right? While it’d be amazing to control the weather (hello, perfect sunsets!), unfortunately, we have to roll with whatever nature gives us.

We all know weather forecasts aren’t always spot-on. How often do they predict rain, only for us to get clear skies and a stunning sunset? It happens more than you'd think. That’s why we don’t jump to conclusions too early—we wait and see.

A Few Days Before Your Photoshoot

If the forecast looks dicey leading up to your session, I’ll reach out to you. Unless we’re expecting a full-on downpour for days, I prefer to wait until the day of the shoot before making any final decisions.

The Day of Your Photoshoot

On the day itself, I’ll check in with you to see when you need to start getting ready. If the weather is unpredictable, it might rain in the morning and clear up by the afternoon, so we’ll decide based on the latest conditions.

Overcast Skies

While sunshine is great, overcast skies can be just as beautiful for photos. The clouds create a soft, even light that’s super flattering. We also have more flexibility with locations since we don’t have to worry about the sun’s position. Some of my favorite sessions have been on beautifully overcast days!
